Coal Pick Supports Breast Cancer Awareness Month
We’d like to take a pause in the month of October to throw some focus on a public service effort that does an immense amount of good across the U.S. and worldwide. As indicated with pink ribbons and swatches of pink everywhere, October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
Did you know that when breast cancer is detected in the early stages of the disease, the 5-year relative survival rate is 99%? The success of early detection is astonishing. The pink ribbon campaign reminds women that early detection includes doing monthly breast self-exams and scheduling regular clinical breast exams and mammograms.
That is the goal of all pink media, marketing and merchandise!
Did we say merchandise?
Currently featured on the Coal Pick Distillery website is a small collection of PINK RIBBON COLLECTIBLES featuring both the Coal Pick Distillery logo and the breast cancer awareness PINK RIBBON insignias. These camo tank tops and tees, V-neck tees and fleece pullovers are available for a limited time. Plus, merchandise sales on these items go to directly benefit Breast Cancer Foundation of the Ozarks.
It’s something small but meaningful that you can do to help benefit this great cause. It is a campaign that is close to the hearts of our Coal Pick Distillery family.
SILENT SYMPTOMS
Were you aware that many breast cancer symptoms are invisible and not noticeable without a professional screening? However, some symptoms can be caught early just by being proactive. Women are encouraged to perform breast self-exams at least once monthly. Every adult should learn the symptoms and signs of breast cancer. Any time an abnormality is discovered, you should consult a healthcare professional.
The National Breast Council Foundation publishes a breast health guide that we highly recommend titled simply “Know the Symptoms”. It is available via their website.
It is such a widespread health concern that experts estimate that 1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime. That is a sobering figure that reminds us to stay vigilant and proactive when it comes to health – especially early detection of breast cancer.
